Reading space

A reading room which accommodates about 32 people is in Hamragarðar.  Students can sit during the opening hours in the library itself and look over semester projects, final projects and various reference material: unfortunately there is only limited space for readers at present.

Mission

The library's mission is to support research, study and teaching by collecting material in the school's subject areas and making it accessible. The library's aim is that the students and staff of Bifröst University will have easy access to material and information from the international university and research community.
The library has a certain amount of Icelandic books and translated material. There are two private collections, that of Jónas Jónsson from Hrifla and that of Guðmundur Sveinsson, former head of the school.
The university librarian makes decisions about purchasing in cooperation with the faculty. Other users have the right to make suggestions and can contribute ideas for acquisitions.
Periodicals and newsletters arrive regularly to the library and access to digital periodicals is steadily improving. Periodicals should not be removed from the library except for photocopying. There are photocopiers in the library and a card for them can be purchased on site.
